Cemetery Trustees

Suncook Sun Bill: The Trustees finally received the bill for the posting of the RFP for cemetery maintenance. The bill had been addressed to Joanna McIntosh and mailed to her home. Since her death last year, a son has been living in her home but has not forwarded the bill until recently.
List of 2011 Deaths: The Trustees are now keeping a list of Chichester residents who have passed away. This list contains DOD and place of internment.
Lot Prices: In light of the extremely low rates of interest the banks are offering, the Trustees discussed raising the amount to be placed in the Trust fund for perpetual care. This year the cost per grave at Leavitt Cemetery was $2.29 and Pineground $2.42. At current rates the $100 placed in the Trust makes less than $1 and the Town picks up the remainder of the cost to mow the gravesite. The Trustees will look at what other towns charge for gravesites and how much is placed in perpetual care. They will use this information for further discussion at the April meeting.
Abandoned Cemeteries: The Trustees prepared a list of cemeteries to be declared abandoned. These include:

Brown
Edmunds/Stanyan (west section only)
Fellows/Webster
Foster
Kaime
Locke
Perkins/Maxfield
Smith/Sanborn
The Trustees will contact the Board of Selectmen for approval before placing the necessary ad in the paper.
